Chateuneuf-du-Pape Vielles-Vignes 2 bottles available $120.00 | Stephen Tanzer 96 Opaque ruby. Remarkably pure raspberry, boysenberry and floral aromas are eerily similar to a great Vosne-Romanee, with an exotic array of floral and incense qualities adding complexity. Uncanny for its combination of depth, sweetness and finesse, with suave minerality building exponentially through the finish. Flat-out stunning wine, and one of the greatest examples of young Chateauneuf I have ever tasted. I can't wait to actually drink it. ___________________________ |

2005 Clos du Papes Chateuneuf-du-Pape (98 Wine Spectator) 1 bottles available $225.00 | Stephen Tanzer 95 (65% grenache, 20% mourvedre, 10% syrah and the rest "the others") Deep red. Explosively perfumed nose offers a profound bouquet of red and dark berries, licorice, incense and musky underbrush. Broad, palate-staining raspberry and blackcurrant flavors are enveloped in velvety tannins, with suave anise and Asian spices adding complexity. A huge but balanced-even graceful-wine, with a finish that refuses to let go of the palate. This remarkable young Chateauneuf has the sheer sex appeal to enjoy young but also possesses superb cellaring potential. I'd hold mine. __________________________ |
